Position summary 
 Reporting to the country manager,the translator will be responsible  for translating (verbally and written) from english into french and vice versa
  • translate from english to french and or vice versa verbally and written; ensure the meaning of the source text is retained:
  • keep the ideas and facts of the original meaning accurate; and transmit any cultural references and expressions that do not translate literally .
  • compile information,such as technical terms used in specific contexts, into glossaries and terminology database to be used in translations.In other words, maintain an in-house translation pratice;
  • Responsible for translation and profread of various government andtax authorities correspondence and reports;
  • tanslate for senior executives at both privateand public meetings with government officials, senior business leaders,and general public;
  • Assistemployees and other departments in translation during meetings with external organization such as visitors from the head office,government official, tribal group etc;
  • perform other administrative duties as required including preparing correspondence, reports,presentations and managing schedule;
  • Ensure timely delivery of assignments that can be in the form of word,powerpoint,or excel
  • work with a split-page format on written documments and formatting the text in both languages;
  • position is based in N'djamena,but occasional travel might be required;
Qualification and Abilities:
  • graduate or post-Graduate in french or applied modern languages or technical education from a recognized university or equivalent qualification from recognized institutes;
  • relevant experience of minimum 5years; experience in O&G english/french translation would be considered an asset;
  • Written fluency, verbal fluency,reading comprehension in english and french;
  • Excellent written and oral communication in both french and english,ability to consult existing material in these language to determine terminolgies and factual accuracy;
  • Advanced knowledge of translation, grammar; semantics and idiomatic expressions in both french and english;
  • Awareness of cross-cultural working relationships;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to wotk both as an individual and in a team setting;
  • Excellent MS office skils: word,power point and excel;
  • to be successful in this role you must have:
  • Excellent written and verbal-communication skills in both english and french,including accuracy and attention to details, as well as a fluid ability to swich between languages;
